The exhaust fan works to suck the air inside the room to be thrown out, and at the same time pulling fresh air outside into the room. In addition the exhaust fan can also adjust the air volume to be circulated in the room. In order to stay healthy the room needs air circulation in order to always change the indoor air with fresh air from the outside of the room.
Exhaust fan is one of the kinds of fan that works for air circulation in space or home. Therefore, it is placed between indoor and outdoor.
How to Choose an Exhaust Fan
In choosing the exhaust fan, the first thing to note is the area of the room. Then also know the function of the room. For example, my workspace actually works as a smoking room. After that just choose the exhaust fan with the appropriate specifications and room function.
Examples in the following calculations illustrate the case of exhaust fan installation in the room at home.
- Calculate the volume of the room in units of cubic meter (m3), ie width x length x height of the room. Example:My work space at home has a width of 2.4 m, length of 3 m, and height of 2.5 m. So the room volume calculation becomes: 2.4m x 4m x 2.5m = 18m3.
- Calculate the CMH value of the required volume water by way of multiplying the Volume Space (m3) with Air Change Rate (ACH) according to the table above.
- Choose the specifications of the exhaust fan CMH equal to or greater than the CMH requirement of the room.
